Here's a pic from the craigslist ad of my recent purchase.. A 1978 Puch Maxi. I'll get some better 'before' shots up before I start transforming it into the moped that I envision. Check back soon..

Guess I'll post a couple other music vids that jumped out at me this week.. Kind of at opposite ends of the time spectrum.

Kode 9 and Space Ape. Can't hear much, but you get the idea.

Looks like Greenpeace picked up something from the graf world..

A few months back, I was honored to be contacted by the Oakland Public Library's room of Historical Archives to submit issues of biosfear into their collection. Last week I finally found the time to get off work to go over there and hand them over. In the process of looking for pristine copies of early issues, I stumbled across a handful of issues 1, 2, and 23 in a box in my basement. I'll be putting 5 signed copies of each issue up for sale on this site in the next week or so, so be sure to check back.

Also, I have some ideas floating around in my head for an issue 5. Wasn't sure if I was ever going to put out another issue. But, I hope to get some of the ideas out of my head and into print sometime in the next year.

This is one of the best blog entries I've stumbed across in a while. Classic videos on synth history. I've been thinking of selling my Juno 60 on and off for the last couple years, but these video clips are a reminder of why I still hold on to it.

I think the last time I made a diaorama was for a kindergarten project. All I remember is that there were dinosaurs involved. This guy Wilco takes the 'artform' to a new level with extremely detailed dioramas of garages. As my brother said when I showed him his site, "there are some long winters in Europe."

A high school's afterschool 'percussion ensemble' plays a couple songs from DJ Shadow's 'Entroducing' album.. It's interesting to see music go completely full circle..

In the last few years, I've been drinking most of my water from bottles. I never thought there'd ever be any negative effect to my health, especially my teeth, until I stumbled across this article. It explains why the increased consumption of bottled water in society has also lead to an increase in cavities, especially among children. Luckily, the tap water in Oakland tastes pretty good. Just thought I'd spread it around..

This website just got 'The Daily Pick' today on coolstop.com.. Not sure what that really means, but It's nice to know someone appreciates it.

As if the huge influx of jacked up F150 Trucks wasn't a big enough clue, the flying of the Confederate flag, and even worse, at a Laguna Canyon Minutemen rally now seals the deal. If you live in Orange County, I think now's a good time to keep an eye on these wingnuts..

Banksy brings a little visual humor to the Israeli/Palestinian situation.

There's a potential battle brewing between Caltrans and the people who built a skatepark, on what was once an urban wasteland, in West Oakland. Learn more about the issue here. This is a powerful example of people taking back their neighborhoods and doing something positive without having to deal with the compromise of urban politics.

An interesting method of public expression, using only a sock, that lies in a currently gray ethical area. From the NPR website:

"A British street artist known as Moose creates graffiti by cleaning dirt from sidewalks and tunnels -- sometimes for money when the images are used as advertising. But some authorities call it vandalism."

More here. There are some good related links towards the bottom of the page as well.

I just read a story about a photographer who was arrested for taking photos of the inside of a bus station in Seattle. I had a similar situation out at the Alameda Naval base a year or so ago when I was asked what I was doing taking pictures, and to stop doing it, by an officer in an unmarked police cruiser.
